Ellen Kirby Named YWCA Executive Director

Kirby replaces interim executive director Nancy Coughlin.

Darien's Ellen Kirby has been appointed executive director of the , the organization announced last week.

Kirby replaces Nancy Coughlin, who has served as interim executive director since June of 2010. Kirby herself has served as program and volunteer director at the YWCA for the past three years.

"Her dedication and knowledge of the organization combined with her passion and energy will be a huge asset moving forward," Amy Zabetakis, president of the organization's board of directors, said in a satement. "We are very excited about the future of the YW under Ellen’s leadership and are grateful for Nancy Coughlin’s contributions over the past year."

Prior to working at the coming to the YWCA, Kirby served as church school director at and conducted event planning for clients such as the National Audobon Society. Kirby also served as a member of the Darien Environmental Protection Commission for five years, among other volunteer roles in the community.
