Darien Native's Photos from Far Away at Nature Center

What's up, what's going down, what's in town and what's around this week:

  • Nick Mancini will give a free presentation on 'Organic Gardening Simplified' at the Darien Community Association Tuesday, Jan. 14. The event starts at 9:30 a.m. and Mancini starts speaking at 10 a.m. The coffee is free, too.
  • "Wise Women’s Wednesday’s workshops continue at the Darien Community Association (DCA) with 'Economic & Market Update' presented by Liz Ann Sonders on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at 12:30 p.m. [...] This workshop will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and is $20 per person, or $10 for DCA members. Reservations are required by noon on Monday, Jan. 13."
  • "The Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, Inc. (JLSN) is gearing up for the Spring 2014 New Member Course! [...] If you are interested in connecting with service minded women and making a difference in your community, then please join us to learn more! We will be holding the following information session: Wednesday, Jan. 15: Information Session: 5:30 to7 p.m. at Burger Bar, SONO (60 North Main St. in South Norwalk).
  • "This winter, the Darien Nature Center welcomes an exhibit from Darien native and resident, Todd Armstrong. Todd will showcase multiple series of photographs depicting animals, human portraits, and landscapes from six distinct regions, including; East Asia, the Himalayas of Nepal and India, Patagonia, The Galapagos Islands, Coastal South America and Southwestern Africa. [...] The exhibit will run from Jan. 6 until Jan. 31 with an official reception on Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 6 to 8 p.m."
  • "Parenting Workshop: The Emotional Life of Your Toddler and Young Child [...] This informative session, lead by psychoanalyst/psychotherapist and parenting consultant, Karen Perlman Ph.D., focuses on the internal world of the young child, explaining how children think, feel, and respond to the challenges of growing up, and how parents can help them meet these challenges with greater self-confidence and joy."
