- Stories by the Pond series: Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. "A storytelling program for families at Darien's Tilley Pond Park. This program is co-sponsored by the Darien Parks and Recreation Department." -- from the Darien Library website
- Thursday is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation for Roman Catholics. St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church will have Masses at 9 a.m., noon, and 7:30 p.m., according to its website. St. John Roman Catholic Church, also in Darien, will have Masses at 8 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., according to its website.

- Downtown Stamford's "Alive at 5" concert series continues Thursday with Michael McDonald, Stolen Rhodes and the Risky Business Band.
