Little Red Riding Hood Panto Production Benefits YWCA Darien/Norwalk!

"LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD" will be held at 3:30pm on February 9th/ 10th at Town Hall. Tickets are $10 on sale now at www.ywcadariennorwalk.org ($12 at the door). Children under age 2 , on laps free.

The classic Grimm’s tale, “Little Red Riding Hood,” has been enchanting children for ages.  A whimsical and light-hearted version of the tale will be performed by the British Amateur Theater Group of Darien at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road Saturday, Feb. 9 and Sunday, Feb. 10.  Both shows begin at 3:30 p.m.  This production benefits the YWCA Darien/Norwalk.

Little Red Riding Hood will be performed in British pantomime style which contrary to its name is not a silent production. The beloved Riding Hood, the naughty wolf and the hilarious three little pigs will delight audiences through theatrical story telling, jokes, music and sheer slapstick humor.

Adults and children alike will enjoy booing the Big Bad Wolf impersonating the grandmother sick in bed. A happy ending is assured with lots of laughs for everyone along the way. The annual Panto has been entertaining audiences in Darien for more than 20 years. This year,  the production is being directed by Caroline Burke who has participated with the Panto for more than 10 years in varying roles.

This production is a fundraiser, which will also include a raffle during each day of the performance. As in the past, Jet Blue tickets will again be the raffled off and awarded at each performance.  Raffle ticket prices are $10 for one ticket, $25 for three tickets and proceeds will be donated to the YWCA Darien/Norwalk’s community outreach programs including Parent Awareness and Job Search Support for WomenTitle sponsor for this years production are Pepsico.  Other sponsors are William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage, Insurance and JetBlue.

Tickets are $10 for advance bookings; advance tickets are available on the YWCA Darien/Norwalk website at ywcadariennorwalk.org.  Children under 2 can sit on laps for free.  Tickets at the door are $12 each, however, the show is likely to sell out so the community is encouraged to purchase tickets in advance of the show.
