Darien Police Department
Non-emergencies: 203-662-5300
A three-member Darien Police Commission oversees the Darien Police Department, which is one of only a few agencies to have received Accreditation from the State of Connecticut.
Overseeing the department is Police Chief, Duane J. Lovello. His department has 51 officers, and operates with the support of civilian employees, special officers, school crossing guards and traffic agents and an emergency response team and dive team.
There are many divisions in the department including records, detective, traffic, marine, and a domestic violence liaison. There is also an Emergency Response team that is specially trained to deal with critical incidents such as terrorist activities.
Darien Police patrol in marked and unmarked vehicles, on motorcycle, on bicycles and on foot. It also maintains a fleet of 18 motorboats, two motorcycles, a patrol boat and an emergency response vehicle.
I would very much like to thank the two officers and one sergeant who were around Goodwives on the 13th. You didn't need to do all you did, but I now re-believe in "to protect and serve." You know who you are. Thank you.
