Darien Station

One of the two Metro-North Railroad stations in town, Darien Station serves Darien residents via the New Haven Line. It is 37.7 miles from Grand Central Terminal. The station has four tracks and two high-level platforms, each 10 cards long. The northern platform is utilized by Manhattan-bound trains; the southern platform is generally used by outbound trains. The two inner tracks are used by express trains only.

Parking at the station is limited. Spaces closest to the tracks are in high demand, and the waiting list for a permit is many-years long. For a daily rate of $7, commuters can park in the West Avenue lot. Monthly and quarterly rates are also offered.

There is a staffed ticket office at Darien Station, which is open from 6:10am – 1:30pm Monday through Friday with a lunch-break from 11:00 am – 11:20. There are also three ticket machines. Fares from both Darien stations to Grand Central are the same, but they are significantly higher when purchased on-board. You can also purchase your tickets online at mta.info.

There is a bus-stop shelter on Post Road near the station for buses traveling South on Post Road to Stamford. Bus Route 42 stops at Darien station and takes passengers along West Avenue and on to Glenbrook in Stamford. Taxis regularly wait for passengers in the small parking lot on the New Haven-bound side of the station.

Train schedules are available at the station, by calling 800-638-7646, or online at mta.info.
