The Noroton Fire Department is one of the three all-volunteer fire departments that serve Darien. The Department is over 100 years old, and its current firehouse at 1837 Post Rd. was built in 1952.

While the Noroton Department is responsible for its individual district, all three departments are dispatched together to any structural calls.

Today, the Noroton Fire Department has about 140 members; 35 to 40 of whom are active. In addition to traditional firefighting responsibilities, Noroton also responds to emergencies on Long Island Sound (Marine 34), motor vehicle accidents and gas leaks.

Noroton is partially supported by Town taxes, but the Department also relies on generous contributions to meet its annual budget.
