TV79 is the Town of Darien's local government access channel. It’s only available to Darien…More residents who are Cablevision subscribers.
The station was founded in 2006 by volunteers David Dever (General Manager) and Jim Cameron (Program Director) who also serve as Darien's representatives on the Area Nine Cable Council.
The station is staffed by volunteer and paid camera operators and is supported by Cablevision subscription fees and some funding from the Town. TV79 covers up to five government meetings each week. Most meetings are aired live and repeated the next week. Other reports on town events include "Inside Town Hall," an interview series with elected/appointed town leaders and heads of various departments. DVD copies of TV79 coverage are available for $25 per DVD.
TV79 is always looking for volunteers to help run the cameras and produce programming. Training is available.
