Geary Gallery 576 Boston Post Rd, Darien, CT06820 The Geary Gallery, located at 576 Boston Post Road in Darien, is well-known as a preeminent Fairfield County gallery for…More representational art. Its proprietors, Anne and Tom Geary, are more than art dealers. They are friends to artists, spotting talent and market appeal, and nurturing careers, with a lively schedule of art exhibits that rotate approximately every five weeks. They feature both Connecticut-based artists with national reputations and well-known artists from along the eastern seaboard.
They are also consummate retailers — meeting the practical needs of the professional arts community, consumers and collectors. They do so via Accent Picture Framing & Restoration, which provides consumers and collectors with quality framing, oil painting and frame restoration, and custom portrait services — companion businesses to the gallery.
For a spectacular and unique gift, nothing could compare to the lasting gift of a custom portrait of someone you love, your family, pet or even your home. With the new Custom Portrait Service, Geary Gallery makes your decision easy and affordable by special arrangement with a select few of some of our best artists. Simply commission one of our portrait artists and you’ll receive a magnificent work of art, a perfect remembrance for you or as a gift. Portraits are available in graphite or oils, houses in pen & ink or acrylic, and pets in oils.
Over the years, Geary Gallery has enjoyed relationships with hundrds of artists, having hosted over 150 shows. Currently, the gallery exhibits a minimum of five different artists each month. Some of the more notable artists are Peter Max, John Stobart, Andrew N. Wyeth and Ray Ellis.
The Gearys have also launched careers. For example, the Chinese artist Xue Jian-Xin had his first U.S. show at the Geary Gallery before he was even free to leave his native Suzhou Providence in the People’s Republic. He has since emigrated and gone on to a well-respected career here. He continues to exhibit at the Geary Gallery.
Recognizing the value of the Internet as a vehicle for globally promoting the work of the artists they represent, the Gearys established this online art gallery. Within the context of realism, the Geary’s art gallery has become a marvelously eclectic resource for the art viewer and collector. The Gearys’ willingness to trust their instincts about the artists they handle — operating outside the sometimes stifling environment of the art establishment — provides opportunities for Fairfield County art lovers to “discover” an artist.
