The Darien Police Marine Division responds to assistance calls throughout the year and works in conjunction withMore surrounding Marine Divisions and the U.S. Coast Guard.</p> <p>Thanks to the latest, high-tech tracking tools and computers, the Marine Division is prepared to track and assist lost or distressed vehicles and offer emergency medical services. Each Marine Division boat is staffed by a trained EMT.</p> <p>The Marine Division enforces all laws of the waterway.</p>

A three-member Darien Police Commission oversees the Darien Police Department, which is one of only a few agencies toMore have received Accreditation from the State of Connecticut.<br><br>Overseeing the department is Police Chief, Duane J. Lovello. His department has 51 officers, and operates with the support of civilian employees, special officers, school crossing guards and traffic agents and an emergency response team and dive team.<br><br>There are many divisions in the department including records, detective, traffic, marine, and a domestic violence liaison. There is also an Emergency Response team that is specially trained to deal with critical incidents such as terrorist activities.<br><br>Darien Police patrol in marked and unmarked vehicles, on motorcycle, on bicycles and on foot. It also maintains a fleet of 18 motorboats, two motorcycles, a patrol boat and an emergency response vehicle.
