"Neighbors is a story about a group of real neighbors getting together to help Vicki establish the Chess Song and go out into the communities and try to help kids and young adults make better decisions by teaching them the basics of chess." Thus, the Birth of Neighbors…

In April 2009 Vicki moved to Byram, a village in Connecticut within the Town of Greenwich, AKA East Port Chester. While trying to get the Chess Song program into Camp Vacamas, a sleep away camp in New Jersey, she started sharing what she was doing with her then new neighbors. Unfortunately, the camp didn’t want the program and just as she was about to give up this five year fight, as if it was a gift from God she noticed some information about Public Access programs on Cablevision/Optimum in her daughter’s cable bill and it dawned on her that maybe she should just put the show on their local Public Access television station.

After being jerked around by Public Access Cablevision/Optimum her neighbors vowed to rally together in support, and they were more than willing to do whatever they could to help. Together they went through training to become Public Access TV producers, and now they had access to the skills and equipment needed to film. From watching NEIGHBORS Thursdays, at 7 pm on Channel 18 in Port Chester, NY; children and young adults at home can learn that it’s FUN and EASY to become critical thinkers and understand the phenomenon call critical thinking. Over the years NEIGHBORS cast and crew have grown to include volunteers from other cities, towns and villages in NY, PA and CT.

The show can also be seen Thursdays, at 7 pm on Channel 18 in Harrison and Yonkers, thanks to NEIGHBORS cast member Ms. Joan Frutkin of Yonkers.
