Were You at The Eagles Concert Saturday in Darien?

A lucky hundred people or so were treated to a concert by the famous rock band, the Eagles, at a private party Saturday in Darien.

Not a band covering Eagles songs. Not impersonators playing the Eagles. These were the Eagles, folks, "Witchy Woman" Eagles. "Hotel California" Eagles. Standin'-on-the-corner-in-Winslow-Arizona Eagles. Joe Walsh was right here in Darien.

The band played for about 90 minutes at the private party in the northern part of town, said a woman who was at the party and spoke briefly about it, but asked that her name not be used.

The family hosting the event "will never talk about it" to the news media, the party guest said. "It's not their style."

She said the husband who hosted the party may have known someone in the band through his career.

The band may also have been paid for the gig, she said, adding that the family is a generous donor to local causes in town.

The party is an annual summer event for the Darien family, the woman said, but the bands that play there are usually much less famous college bands.
