Barrett Bookstore celebrates a new
look. Fairfield County’s oldest independent bookstore has seen many changes
since it opened on Broad Street in Stamford in 1939. It has been at its present
location in Noroton Heights Shopping Center since 1989. “We moved everything
around to give the store a more inviting, open look and to create a special
area for middle readers, a growing audience for us,” says Sheila Daley, owner
of Barrett Bookstore since 1997. “We
also added a lovely cherry library case that will contain a collection of
modern first editions. Part of the
new design includes an area easily converted to accommodate author events and book
club gatherings.”
On Saturday, September 7th
old and new customers are invited to check out the renovations, receive 10% off any purchase and enter their name for a raffle for some great
prizes. The first prize winner may select an Advance Reader Copy of their
choice each month for a year – a great opportunity to preview hot titles from
the major publishing houses. Second
prize is a Penguin boxed set of their favorite upcoming books. Third Prize is
three Advance Reader Copies. For Book Groups , a chance to have a special Skype
chat with an author will be part of the prizes raffled.
And younger readers may enter their name to win a set of the 15th
anniversary edition of the Harry Potter series with the newly designed
covers. Not to leave out the youngest
readers, two fabulous new jumbo board books along with a plush toy will be part
of the prizes.
