Several music ensembles from Middlesex Middle School and Darien's elementary schools participated in the Music in the Parks Adjudication Festival on June 1st in New Britton CT and at Lake Compounce. The students performed for judges made up of university music professors who gave them very high ratings and positive comments. After their spectacular performances, the students and their instructors enjoyed the rest of the day at Lake Compounce amusement park.
The Darien music ensembles won in these categories:
Camerata Singers: First Place in their division, Superior rating
MMS Jazz Ensemble: First Place in their division, Superior rating
MMS Honors Band: First place in their division, Excellent rating
7th/8thGrade Orchestra: First Place in their division, Best Orchestra Overall, Superior rating
The Elementary Honors Orchestra: First Place in their division, Superior rating
The Elementary Honors Chorus: First Place in their division, Superior Rating
In addition, Middlesex student Thomas Cortellisi was also recognized as outstanding accompanist for his work with the MMS Camerata Singers.
