THE DARIEN KIWANIS CLUB HELD A RECEPTION FOR THEIR 2013 SCHOLARSHIP RECEIPIENTS AT THE DEPOT ON MAY 29, 2013. THE KIWANIS CLUB GAVE $22,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS INCLUDING FOUR SPECIAL SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 EACH. THE HENRY KEIL SCHOLARSHIP WAS AWARDED TO JAMES D. BAKER AND CLAY BAXTER FOR A STUDENT THAT WILL PURSUE A DEGREE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD; THE CAPTAIN THOMAS O'CONNOR SCHOLARSHIP WAS AWARDED TO ERICA HURTADO FOR A STUDENT THAT ACHIEVED A HIGH STANDARD OF COMMUNITY SERVICE DURING THEIR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS, AND THE JUDGE PHILIP A. MOREHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP, AWARDED TO LAUREN SESTITO, IS GIVEN TO A STUDENT WHO WILL PURSUE A CAREER IN LAW, GOVERNMENT OR POLITICAL SCIENCE. FOURTEEN, $1,000 SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO THE FOLLOWING GRADUATES: ALEXANDRA APARICIO, ANNIE ARCHIBALD, MATT BROWN, EMILY M. CACCAM, MICHAEL FESTO, KATHRYN ANN FITZMAURICE, MURTUZA JAFRI, OLIVIA LEUNIS, ANNE MARIE MANJUCK, ALTHEA PERLEY, HARRISON PERLEY, LILIANA SAFFA, TYLER STRATTON AND CAROLINE LEE WATERS. THE KIWANIS CLUB RAISES SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS BY HOLDING A CITRUS SALE IN NOVEMBER AND AN ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT, TO BE HELD ON JULY 25, 2013 AT STERLING FARMS GOLF COURSE IN STAMFORD, CT.
