Darien String Students Perform at Honors Festival

On March 14-15 the Fairfield County String Teachers Association sponsored their 40th annual String Festival featuring outstanding string students in grades six through nine from throughout Fairfield County.  Based on teacher recommendations and competitive auditions, Sara Baldwin, Kara O’Rourke, Emily Grandon, John Phipps, Elizabeth Garijo-Garde, Kai Zhou and Tal Lindsey were chosen to represent Darien at this year’s honors festival. The conductors for the festival were Emmett Drake from the Hartt School of Music, Harvey Felder of the Tacoma Symphony and Joseph Brennan from Haverford, PA. The event was hosted by Western Connecticut State University and students and educators from seventeen Fairfield County school districts were represented at the festival.
