DHS Rowers Medal at Mercer Sprints

DHS's Alex Sedlack, Taylor Stauffer, Charlie Cragin, and Irene McLaughlin and MMS' Casey Batson all earned medals rowing for Norwalk River Rowing at the Mercer Lake Sprints in Princeton NJ on April 18th and 19th.  In addition, Norwalk River Rowing's youth racing team won three ISA Sculling Championship Team Trophies at the regatta: Varsity Mens Trophy, Large Team Mens Trophy, and Lightweight Mens Trophy, all awarded for the sculling events. All together, the men and women earned 7 gold,  5 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
The regatta featured 42 clubs competing over two days at Mercer Lake in New Jersey.  The regatta was actually two regattas held together, the ISA Sculling Championships (a sculling regatta) and the Mercer Lake Sprints (the sweep events). NRRA won one medal in a championship event, a gold in the men's lightweight sweep four plus coxswain.  NRRA also brought home golds in the men's varsity single, men's varsity double, men's lightweight double, men's second varsity double and two men's second varsity sweep fours plus coxswain.  NRRA's silver medals were awarded for the men's lightweight double, men's lightweight quad (Charlie Cragin), two men's second varsity quads (Taylor Stauffer) and the men's eight plus coxswain, while its bronze medals were earned for the men's varsity double (Alex Sedlack and Taylor Stauffer), men's second varsity double, women's novice eight plus coxswain (Irene McLaughlin and Casey Batson) and men's novice quad.
The youth teams head back to New Jersey for the Cooper Cup on April 27th.
