On Saturday, May 10, a total of 17 members of the Middlesex Middle School traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the annual Middle School National Championship Tournament.
This tournament featured some of the nation's best teams, 128 in all. Middlesex had 3 teams that qualified. Our A team finished an impressive 8th, with an overall record of 9 - 4.
The A team was lead by 8th grade captain Julia Tong, and also included 8th grader Casey Martin, 7th graders Thomas Brown and Evan Tong, and 6th grader John Phipps.
Though neither our B nor our C team qualified for the playoffs, they each played well in the preliminary rounds.
The B Team was lead by 7th grade captain Folke Bruno, and featured 7th graders Griffin Samroengraja and Shashank Sangaru, and 6th graders Colin Adams, Nick Derby, and Maya Nalawade. They finished 64th overall.
The C-Team was led by 8th grade captain Brett Peters, and included 7th graders Kieran Daly, Cole Hanson, Henry Steinthal, and Sarah Murphy, and 6th graders Jack Roberson. Of special note, Julia Tong was the tournament's 16th overall individual scorer, and John Phipps was the 37th.
