Another Truck Strikes Post Rd RR Overpass [UPDATE]

Late Monday afternoon, another truck hit the Metro-North railroad bridge over the Post Road downtown.

It's the third such accident under the bridge in the past 12 months.

First Selectman Jayme Stevenson announced at Monday night's Board of Selectmen meeting that she recently met with state, railroad and South West Regional Planning Association officials to make these types of accidents less likely.

She didn't offer details on what was discussed, but she added, "We hope to get some viable solutions by the end of this month, after they meet."

Update:

Stevenson said after the Board of Selectmen's meeting that she didn't want to say what the options were because some people might get angry if an option wasn't implemented.

She did praise state Department of Transportation officials for being "very collaborative with us" and praised the innovative thinking involved in coming up with them: "Some of the ideas I think are somewhat inventive -- if we can pull it off."
