But you wouldn't know it by looking at the enduring snow.

Here's the Darien-specific weather forecast from the National Weather Service, which takes us much closer to the brink of spring, by the calendar, than it does in terms of weather:

  • Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
  • Tuesday night: A slight chance of rain after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
  • Wednesday: Rain, mainly after 1pm. High near 46. East wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Wednesday night: Rain showers before 1am, then a chance of rain and snow showers. Low around 21. Northeast wind 9 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Thursday: A chance of rain and snow showers before 7am, then a chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 30. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
  • Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 17. Blustery.
  • Friday: Sunny, with a high near 38.
  • Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.
  • Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 51.
  • Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 31.
  • Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43.
  • Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28.
  • Monday (three days till spring): A chance of rain and snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 37. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
