Opening Art Reception - Linda Lyons

Darien Library is excited to announce its newest art exhibit, which features the landscape paintings of local artist Linda Lyons. The works will be on display beginning Thursday, April 12 and running through May 31. There will be a reception to honor the exhibit on Friday, May 18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Lyons will graduate in May with a master’s in fine arts from West Connecticut State University; she was asked in January to join the Artist Residency Program at the Vermont Studio Center.

“When engaged in painting from observation, I seek to evoke the sense of atmospheric phenomenon found in nature, creating a dialogue in which the subject transcends the canvas, evoking a sense of deep, intimate space, the perception of color as light,” she said.

Lyons holds a BFA degree in graphic design from the College of Fine Arts at Boston University and has been awarded graduate certificates from her studies in the arts from the Yale Summer Graduate Program in Graphic Design, formerly of Brissago, Switzerland, as well as the Maine Summer Institute of Graphic Design at the Portland School of Art. She has also served as an adjunct professor at Southern Connecticut State University.
