Crumbs Cupcake Company Closes All Locations, Including Stamford

The cupcake emporium had four shops in Connecticut.

The gourmet cupcake business that jettisoned a small New York City business to gourmet stardom opening dozens of outlets around the country, has closed its doors.

Crumbs, which had four outposts in Connecticut — Greenwich, Stamford, Danbury and Westport, closed its doors on Monday.

According to reports, employees were notified of the decision on Monday. A representative for Crumbs could not immediately say how many workers were affected or how many stores it had remaining on its last day, according to a WTNH report.

“Regrettably Crumbs has been forced to cease operations and is immediately attending to the dislocation of its devoted employees while it evaluates its limited remaining options,” the company said in a statement to The Wall Street Journal. Those options could include a bankruptcy filing, the spokeswoman said.

The Connecticut shops were at:

  • Danbury Fair Mall – 7 Backus Ave.
  • Greenwich – 48 W. Putnam Ave.
  • Stamford – 1067 High Ridge Rd.
  • Westport – 40-44 Post Rd. East
