A 61-year-old woman received non-life-threatening injuries Thursday, Feb. 14, when she was struck by a car as she was crossing West Avenue at its intersection with Hollow Tree Ridge Road, police said.
Darien police said the woman was struck at about 11:54 a.m. by a 2012 Toyota driven by a Stamford woman. The Toyota was going south on Hollow Tree Ridge Road and was turning left (eastbound) onto West Avenue when the collision took place.
The pedestrian was taken to Stamford Hospital by Darien EMS—Post 53.
The driver, who said she didn't see the woman crossing the road, was issued an infraction ticket for failure to grant right of way to a pedestrian using a crosswalk.
