Open House for 1st-5th Grade Parents: An for parents interested in grades 1-5 will take place at , 90 Pear Tree Point Rd., at 9 a.m. Pear Tree Point School is a private elementary school serving grades Pre K-5. Students in grades 1-5 attend school at the Darien campus, while pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes are held at a separate campus in Norwalk.
Spice Up Your Cooking Skills: The Darien Community Association is hosting a “Cooking Through Asia” class series to teach attendees about ethnic meals and how to cook cuisines from Thailand/Vietnam, China, Japan and India. Featuring Chef Ashley Boucaud has mentored with some of the world’s best chefs. Classes are limited to 10 people so please RSVP. Email: dca1923@optonline.net
Study Sesh: The Darien Library’s weekly for teens will be held today from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Study Sesh is a teen program packed with school supplies and snacks where light homework help is offered.

Public Hearing on School Budget: The Board of Education will hold a public hearing tonight at 7 p.m. You’ll have a chance to speak at the public hearing on the proposed 2011-12 Darien school budget in the town hall auditorium. Superintendent Stephen Falcone’s proposed budget is accessible here.
Designer Jonathan Adler: In the first of Darien Library’s Winter/Spring Author Series, Jonathan Adler will be the on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. Adler is the author of the “Happy Chic” series, a sought-after interior designer, and the owner of an international gift and design company which bears his name. He was also the lead judge on the Bravo series, “Top Design.” A book signing and reception will follow the presentation. Books will be available for purchase.
