Irene Delays Irene's Wedding Celebrations

"It looks like Hurricane Irene is too much," Darien Health Director David Knauf said Friday.

With Hurricane Irene's arrival in Connecticut now a certainty, Darien Health Director David Knauf and his fiancée, Irene Rios, say they'll have to put off the wedding celebrations .

"It looks like Hurricane Irene is too much," Knauf said in an email Friday. "We will reschedule the reception and cancel our honeymoon trip.

But all is not lost.

"We plan to get married with our children present at home on Sunday if our pastor can safely travel," Knauf said.

The couple gained a bit of fame earlier this week, as the pair of Irene's namesake storm while it churned toward planned location for their wedding, West Haven's Savin Rock.

Knauf said the two have been interviewed by numerous national news outlets since Wednesday's story, including MSNBC and ABC's Good Morning America.
