Punxsutawney Phil has some explaining to do.

On the heels of last week's springlike temperatures, Darien and the region awoke to yet another dose of snow Monday morning, albeit a comparatively modest one.

As of 5:30 a.m., the National Weather Service was calling for total accumulations of 4 to 6 inches around the area, with snow gradually tapering off in the late morning and early afternoon.

"Expect hazardous road conditions this morning due to snow covered roads and reduced visibilities," the service warns.

Highs are projected to reach 36°, with an overnight low of 15°. The area remains under a winter weather advisory until noon.

The good news: Darien Public Schools are on February recess this week, and other institutions — including and the — had already planned to close for Presidents Day, lessening the blow to many schedules.

No new Metro-North service delays were reported as of 6:00 a.m.
