Audition: The 39 Steps
The Darien Arts Center is delighted to announce the new name of their theatre group, Darien Arts Center Stage, which will be kicking off the season in March with "The 39 Steps" adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock. This two-time Tony Award-winning hit show, is guaranteed to be an audience-pleaser for ages 9 through 90. The New York Times calls it "Absurdly Enjoyable" and the Daily News says it’s “A Dizzy Delight". This show is fast, funny, and funnier.
Auditions will be held at the Darien Arts Center’s Visual Arts Studio from 7 pm to 10 pm on Tuesday, January 8th and Wednesday, January 9th, 2013, with callbacks on Friday, January 11th. Audition sides will be provided.

Although this play was originally cast with 4 actors, we will cast a larger ensemble for this production, a total of 8 Actors -- 4 main and 4 supporting.
With over 150 characters in this fast-paced comedy thriller, we're seeking excellent character actors that possess a profound sense of timing, with improv & comedy training a plus.

The main roles are:
RICHARD HANNAY (age range 35+) The heroic leading man; charming, innocent, and funny. Must have great comic timing.
ANNABELLE SCHMIDT/PAMELA/MARGARET (age range 25-40) Must have excellent comic timing and great versatility.
MAN #1 & MAN # 2
(age range 20-50) These roles calls for exceptional physical and verbal comic ability. Must be able to provide multiple dialects.
CHORUS- 4 supporting roles will be playing a variety of roles throughout the show.
This production will be directed by Donna McLaughlin Wyant with Autumn Howard serving as Assistant Director.
