Webcast of the 26th Super Bowl Breakfast and Bart Starr Award

First-Ever Webcast of the 26th Super Bowl Breakfast and Bart Starr Award to Be Shown in Darien February 2

Coach Trifone to Speak About the Importance of Character

On February 2, 2013, three local groups are sponsoring a free webcast viewing in Darien of the 26th NFL-Sanctioned Super Bowl Breakfast and awarding of the prestigious Bart Starr Award to Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten.   The Bart Starr Award is voted on by NFL players and recognizes one player for outstanding character and leadership in the home, on the field and in the community.  The first-ever webcast presentation will be held in the Darien Library Community Room starting at 9:30 A.M. and ending by no later than 11:00 A.M.  Darien High School Football Coach Rob Trifone will add his own perspective on the importance of character for athletes.  The webcast is being sponsored by the New Canaan Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Young Life of Darien/Rowayton.  Coaches and parents are encouraged to bring young athletes to reinforce the importance of character and commitment to family, teammates and the community.  The Café at the Darien Library will be open for the purchase of breakfast food and beverages.

The Super Bowl Breakfast, which has never been broadcast or webcast,  is an NFL-sanctioned event hosted by Athletes in Action.  The signature event of Super Bowl week has taken place in the game’s host city every year since 1988, drawing sellout crowds to hear from some of the game’s biggest names. The Bart Starr Award, given away at the breakfast, honors Starr’s lifelong commitment to serving as a positive role model to his family, teammates and community. The winner of the Bart Starr Award is determined by NFL player balloting at the end of the regular season. The award is one of only two individual honors selected by the players themselves.   Past winners include London Fletcher, Drew Brees, Kurt Warner, LaDainian Tomlinson, Reggie White and Mike Singletary.
