Fun for Everyone at Darien's Doggie Costume Parade

The Hairy Barker's first doggie costume parade becomes the start of an annual event.

Last Sunday The Hairy Barker Inn and Spa joined with Chunky Pam's Sweet Shop and Blankets and Bowls to host the first annual Doggie Costume Parade, a fun filled afternoon event that also raised money and supplies to aid shelter pets in need.

The first to arrive a pair of sisters who, while they didn't have a dog, just didn't want to miss the fun. They arrived holding their own little stuffed doggies and paraded through town with them.

All the participants, both two-legged and four-legged, had a barking good time! Everyone made new friends, enjoyed the treats and the sunshine. The excitement has carried us all into the new week, with calls to start planning next years event.

So for now, remember The Hairy Barker at 21 Tokeneke road (rear of building) is the drop off location for Blankets and Bowls. We collect Monday through Saturday and the list of appropriate donations can be found on their website. Enjoy the season and start planning your costumes for next year's event.
