A second man also fled the scene, police said, but was caught in the parking lot of Ten Twenty Post.

A Bridgeport man is facing felony charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop on Sunday armed with a gun.

Corey Young, 23, was charged with criminal possession of a pistol or revolver, carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit, carrying weapons in a motor vehicle, second degree reckless endangerment, and interfering with an officer.

According to Capt. Fred Komm, Young was riding eastbound on Post Road with Norwalk residents Stacey Sawyer Jr., 25, and Dwayne Leak, 23, when Officer Edwin Vigil spotted a defective brake light on their vehicle.

Vigil followed the Nissan Maxima onto I-95 southbound, Komm said, stopping the trio at the end of the exit 11 offramp. Sawyer, the driver, was placed under arrest after police reportedly found that his license was suspended.

Officers then asked Leak and Young to exit the vehicle. But when Young consented to a search and began walking to the back of the car, Komm said he took off running across Post Road toward Leroy Avenue. Vigil and Officer Stuart Schwengerer, who had arrived as backup, followed in pursuit.

After verbal warnings, Komm said Schwengerer tasered Young as he attempted to scale a fence into Middlesex Commons. But the initial shock had minimal effect, and the man reportedly continued running into the condominium complex. Finally, after a second taser shock from Vigil, Komm said police were able to subdue Young.

"Young’s chances of escape were very slim as Officer Vigil runs marathons as a hobby," Komm said.

During a search of Young's person, Komm said officers found a loaded .38 Charter Arms revolver and spare bullets. Young, who was previously convicted of a felony, is not legally permitted to carry a gun.

Young was transported to Norwalk Hospital to have the taser probes removed and later taken to Darien Police Headquarters. He was held on $50,000 bond and appeared in court Monday.

Leak, meanwhile, allegedly ran from the traffic stop in the direction of Corbin Dr. but was stopped in the parking lot of  by Officer Michael Cummings, who had his service weapon drawn.

"All officers did an outstanding job," Komm said.

Leak was charged with first degree reckless endangerment and interfering with an officer. He posted a $500 bond and is set to appear in court April 20.

Sawyer was charged with operating a vehicle on a suspended license and failure to return a suspended license. He was released on a promise to appear in court April 20.
