Cops: DUI Arrest After Driver Strikes Post Road Curb

A man driving on the Post Road at about 2:39 a.m. Saturday was seen speeding, going over the double yellow line into the oncoming traffic lane and later struck a curb, police said.

A police officer saw a car seeming to speed down the Post Road on Saturday, then stopped it and later arrested the driver on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol, Darien police said.

Police gave this account of the incident:

At about 2:39 a.m. on Saturday, the officer saw a 1991 Honda Civic apparently speeding down the Post Road near its intersection with Beach Drive.

The car crossed the double yellow lines several times and struck the curb in the area of Old Kings Highway South.

The police officer stopped the car and administered field sobriety tests to its driver, Avidan Galeano, 32, of Norwalk. Galeano failed the tests and was arrested.

He was charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and failure to drive right. Galeano was later released on a written promise to appear March 12 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
