Darien Man Robbed at Norwalk Residence, Leading to Narrow Escape

Police said Joshua Hernandez, 18, pointed what appeared to be an automatic pistol at the victim.

A 20-year-old Darien resident was robbed by four men Saturday at a Norwalk home, according to police, leading to a narrow escape captured by a 911 call.

Authorities said the incident occurred at the 16 Soundview Ave. residence of Joshua Hernandez, 18, where the victim had been invited. Though he had previously purchased crack and marijuana from Hernandez, the Darien man told Norwalk police he no longer took drugs and provided test results from an outpatient program to prove it.

At around 7 p.m., Hernandez — also known as "Fat Boy" — led the victim to the back yard of his house, where he and two other men began talking. When the Darien resident mentioned that he had just been paid, one of the men allegedly punched him in the face and grabbed the money out of his pocket. The victim told police he had between $250 and $350 of wages on him at the time.

When the victim went back to his car and contacted 911, Hernandez reportedly pointed what appeared to be a black automatic pistol at him. As the victim began to speed away in his car, police said Hernandez and the other man tried to grab the door handles and get in. All the while, the victim was on the phone with police.

Officers met with the victim, who was bleeding from his nose, and detained Hernandez and the other men at the residence.
