DUI Arrest of Bridgeport Man Downtown Sunday

Police said the driver was seen hitting the curb several times on the Post Road downtown.

A 20-year-old Bridgeport man was so intoxicated early Sunday morning that he struck the curb several times while driving on the Post Road near Corbin Drive, police said.

Arrested by Darien police, his state of intoxication made him so sick during the booking process that he was taken to Stamford Hospital and admitted, police said

Luis Oliva, 20, of Sylvan Avenue in Bridgeport was seen driving on the Post Road shortly before 1:12 a.m. and was seen hitting the curb several times. Police stopped his vehicle on Ledge Road.

Oliva failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Police said he also was driving with a suspended driver's license.

He was charged with driving while under the influence, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to return a suspended license, and restricted turn. He was released on a written promise to appear March 19 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
