Stolen: A Tape Measure, Pliers and a Grateful Dead Poster.

Wednesday, Nov. 11

Duo cashes in on stolen goods from from Ring’s End Lumber.

Larceny was reported from Rings End Lumber. Police are investigating the case in which they believe two burglars are stealing goods from the lumber yard, and returning the supplies for their cash value. A woman was seen returning a tape measure one day, and a pair of pliers and cutters a few days later. A similar incident was reported in Wilton; the woman was accompanied by a man. Surveillance cameras show that man wandering around both Darien and Wilton stores. Police believe the male was stealing the items and the female was returning them for cash. Darien Ring’s End store believes there is another item missing and is taking a full inventory of their store. The investigation is ongoing.

Following investigation of an earlier motor vehicle accident, New Canaan driver charged with DWI.

Howard Jeandenis, 30, of New Canaan was charged with DWI. He turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The warrant stems from a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Oct. 10 around 1:12 a.m. on Noroton Avenue. Jeandenis had allegedly hit into the guardrail coming off I-95 Exit 10; the guard rail was heavily damaged, according to reports. Police found Jeandenis parked in the parking lot of 93 Noroton Avenue. The airbag of his 2003 Acura SUV had deployed and the driver’s door was open. He had minor injuries and was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Post 53.

Police obtained a search warrant for his blood alcohol levels. Jeandenis was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of Nov. 23.

Friday, Nov. 13

Darien man charged when police find pot and pipe.

Christopher Olsen, 28, of Darien was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police officers observed Olsen pull into a parking lot and turn off his headlights. When he did not exit the car, officers approached him. Olsen was driving a 1997 Buick Century and was observed behind the wheel. Police detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. In a backpack, officers found a glass mason jar containing 1.7 grams of marijuana and in a sunglass case on the front seat, there was a 4 inch glass pipe. Additionally, 2.7 grams of marijuana were found in a Ziploc bag. Olsen was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of Nov. 23.

Teen steals Grateful Dead poster.

A 17-year old male, of Stamford, was charged with larceny in the fifth degree. The male allegedly took a Grateful Dead Matrix poster valued at $650 from Johnny’s Records, 45 Tokeneke Road, around 3:42 p.m. The store owner observed the youthful offender walking out of the store with the poster and noticed the empty space in the rack where the poster was. The male tried to conceal the poster under the wheels of an SUV which damaged the poster, reducing its value to $150. The youthful offender was released on a promise to appear and has a court date of Nov. 25.

Sunday, Nov. 15

Drunk driver found with drugs on Nearwater.

Dwayne Cruz, 27, of Norwalk was charged with DWI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive right around 2:50 a.m. Cruz was driving a 1992 Toyota Corolla. Officers observed Cruz traveling southbound on Nearwater Lane when he allegedly swerved into the other lane several times. He was stopped on Nearwater Lane where police detected slurred speech and an odor of alcohol. According to police reports, Cruz failed his field sobriety test. Police took an inventory of the vehicle and found a small black backpack on the floor behind the driver’s seat which contained a digital scale, sandwich bags, a 5 pound bucket containing one fifth of a gram of marijuana and .3 grams of residue. Police found $1277 in his wallet, which was seized. Cruz posted $500 bond and has a court date of Nov. 25.
