Police Blotter: Thousands of Dollars in Valuables Stolen
Police receive reports of seven motor vehicle burglaries, a missing bike, a stolen cell phone and a swiped wallet.
The following information was provided by the Darien Police Department:
Monday, April 26
MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARY: Police received two reports from Fitch Avenue residents who claimed their cars had been entered during the Sunday overnight. Police believe the two incidents are related.

LARCENY: Police say a $1,850 2009 Jamis Xenith 20-speed bicycle was stolen from a garage on Middlesex Road. The complainant told police he left the blue, black and silver bike in a detached garage on April 23 and noticed the bike missing on April 26 at 2:30 p.m. According to police, the resident had been on vacation over the weekend and had left the garage unlocked.
Tuesday, April 27
ASSAULT WITH A MOTOR VEHICLE: Angel Vega, 37, of Stamford was arrested on a host of charges that include second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, operation of a vehicle while under influence of liquor or drug, disobeying the signal of an officer, interfering with an officer, reckless driving and possession of controlled substance, after he crashed what police say was a stolen Nissan Xterra into a police cruiser, sending Darien Police Lt. Thomas Krois to the hospital.

Wednesday, April 28
LARCENY: A Beadz Boutique employee told police it was a particularly busy day at the shop when her wallet was taken from her purse. According to police, the black zippered wallet contained $200 cash, a driver's license and numerous credit cards when it was left, unattended, near an office doorway at the front of the shop, noontime. It was 4 p.m. when the complainant arrived home and noticed the wallet missing from her purse. Police say the thief attempted to use the victim's Bank of America Visa card at an unknown location, but the charge did not process.
MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARY: A Relihan Road resident filed a report of a motor vehicle burglary that police say took place two days prior. Police believe the incident is related to Monday's burglary reports.

MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARY: Police received four reports of motor vehicle burglaries, which they believe took place during the Wednesday overnight hours.

Friday, April 30
LARCENY: Changing for gym class cost one Darien High School student her cell phone. Police say the $250 BlackBerry was stolen from the student's backpack, which she had left in the locker room at about 9:20 a.m. When she returned from gym just after 10 a.m., the phone was missing. The student reported the incident to school administration. Police say the student's mother filed the report with police, noting that the gym class thefts were becoming "a common occurrence at the high school."
