Police: Man Runs When Confronted by Store Workers

A Bronx, NY man flees from a supermarket after employees try to question him about why he was behind the service counter.

A 21-year-old Bronx man was arrested after he fled from a supermarket when employees saw him behind a service desk and attempted to question him, police said.

Darien police gave this account:

At about 9:50 p.m. Sunday, employees at Stop & Shop supermarket in the Goodwives Shopping Center, 25 Old Kings Hwy. N., saw Andrew Bradshaw behind the service desk.

"It is believed that he was attempting to remove cigarettes from a glass case" behind the service desk, Darien police said in a news release about the incident.

When employees called out to Bradshaw, he jumped over the counter and rushed out of the store with several store personnel running after him.

Police saw Bradshaw being chased and wrestled him to the ground after he ignored all their orders to stop fleeing.

Bradshaw was charged with attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. He posted a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Feb. 8 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
