Police: Marijuana Found Hidden Under Infant Seat

Jordan Rosa, 20, and Gabriel Rodriguez, 27, were arrested in the incident.

say two Bronx men were arrested Saturday after an officer found marijuana hidden under a child safety seat during a search of their car.

Jordan Rosa, 20, and Gabriel Rodriguez, 27, were charged with possession of marijuana in the incident.

According to Capt. Fred Komm, an officer on patrol around 9:39 a.m. spotted Rosa asleep in the passenger seat of a car parked in front of Wells Fargo Bank (950 Post Road).

The officer pulled in behind the Nissan Altima and tapped on the window to check on the man's well-being, Komm said. When Rosa eventually awoke, he said he was fine, but the officer became suspicious when he allegedly detected a smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Rosa and Rodriguez — who emerged from the bank — said they had stopped off to rest en route from Camden, Mass. to the Bronx, according to Komm. Both denied that there was any marijuana in the vehicle, he said.

But when Zulu, the department's certified K-9, sniffed around the vehicle, Komm said the dog indicated the presence of the drug on the glove box, the center console, the passenger seat, and an unsecured infant seat in the rear.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a blunt in the center console, marijuana residue around the seats, and a plastic bag containing marijuana under the infant seat, Komm said.

Both Rosa and Rodriguez reportedly denied ownership of the drug but were placed under arrest. They each posted a $250 bond and are set to appear in court June 3.
