Traffic Stop Leads to Motor Vehicle, Marijuana Charges
A Stamford man driving south on Hoyt Street was stopped when police found his motor vehicle registration had expired; inside the car, police found a small amount of marijuana.
Darien police charged a Stamford man on Saturday with various violations of motor vehicle law and possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana.
Police gave this account of the incident:
Collin Cowdery, 23, of Duffy's Street, Stamford, was stopped near Camp Avenue as he drove south on Hoyt Street, after a computer check showed the registration had expired on the 2003 Honda Accord he was driving.

When the car was stopped, a police officer noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car and searched it, finding three grams of marijuana and some paraphernalia used for preparing it, including a grinder, a vaporizer and a bong.
Cowdery was charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to insure the motor vehicle, possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a misdemeanor summons to appear June 27 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
