12 in Darien Complete Police Citizen Academy
The Darien Police Department's first Citizen Police Academy, which describes the department and its procedures to residents and business owners, recently concluded, according to this announcement from the department.
The Darien Police Department recently concluded its first Citizen Police Academy. The first-time program for the department involved 12 Darien residents or business owners.
These “students” covered the history of the department, traffic enforcement and accident investigation, DWI procedures and vehicle stop demonstration, the criminal justice system and domestic violence, forensics, crime scene investigation, and K-9 unit.
The six week academy culminated with a presentation by Darien Police officers assigned to the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team and the opportunity to utilize the Prism firearms training system which the department obtained through funds provided by the Darien Technology & Community Foundation.
