Darien Public Schools HQ Now At 35 Leroy Ave.

Darien Public Schools administration now has a new address -- 35 Leroy Ave., the former location of Darien Library.

The move took place over the weekend, according to Selectman David Campbell, chairman of the Board of Education Central office/Mather Center Building Committee (the Shuffle Board).

(The Darien Public Schools website hasn't caught up with the move and still lists the 2 Renshaw Rd. address as the school district headquarters, but just about the only thing that remains is the outdoor sign at the entrance.)

Campbell said the $4.5 million move will be partially offset by expected state grants of about $600,000.

The space in the Town Hall building formerly occupied by the school district headquarters will be transformed into the Mather Community center, expected to be ready by this October.
