New at this year's Oct. 6 clinic is PharmaJet, a needle-free system which applies a high-pressure innoculation through the skin. The vaccine and the cost are the same as the traditional method, which will still be available. According to Director of Health David Knauf, Darien is the first location in Connecticut to use the PharmaJet technology.

The department is also offering a high-dose vaccine intended for those over 65, which provides a larger dose of antigen to give older patients better protection against the flu. Seniors may opt for either the standard or the high-dose version.
