Gov's Small Policy Changes for Hurricane-Harried

The governor signed the orders today.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office issued the following press release tonight related to Hurricane Irene:

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed four executive orders designed to assist Connecticut’s recovery from Hurricane Sandy. The Executive Orders will allow faster restoration of the state power infrastructure, as well as offer certain tax filing extensions to Connecticut residents and businesses.

“Our first priority during this storm is public safety, but we also want to ensure efficient restoration efforts,” said Governor Malloy. “Let’s be clear, it’s going to take awhile to get back to normal, but we are prepared to use all that we learned during the 2011 storms and the July statewide emergency drill to deal with the storm and address its aftermath.”

Executive Order 22 allows properly credentialed out-of-state telecommunications electrical workers to perform work in the state that is normally performed only by Connecticut licensed Public Service Technicians.
