Darien Library Goes into Teen Study Mode for Mid-Terms

Darien Library is staying open late several days this week (from Monday, Jan. 13 to Monday, Jan. 20) to help Darien High School students study for their mid-term exams.

They won't be open late Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights, but they will stay open from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 13), Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and then the following Monday (Jan. 20).

In an announcement, the library points out: "Librarians are on hand to answer reference questions in person, by IM, email or phone. To reserve a study room, contact AskUs@darienlibrary.org or call (203) 669.5236."

The library announcement also states: "Study Rooms may be reserved one month in advance in two hour increments. Students will be asked to give their name and phone number to reserve the room and accept responsibility for the condition of the room and reservations will only be held for 15 minutes before being made available to others who are waiting." (Now, since the announcement is dated Jan. 6, you just may be able to reserve a room earlier than a month in advance. You could try, anyway.)

The library also has a food policy (other than the fact that you can eat food in the library). You can order a pizza, for instance, but please be there near the entrance to get the delivery:

"If you are a student who orders a meal to be delivered, please wait on the first floor to meet the delivery driver. Please eat meals and messy snacks at the café tables. Uncle’s Brain Food Café will also offer extended hours and will be staying open late until 9 p.m. that week. On Monday night's there will be a snack break in the Teen Lounge at 7:30 p.m."

And always remember that your parents never had it nearly this good when they were in high school. Not even close.
