Good Things Open House Thurs. to Show Off Floral Dept.

In her 30th year as owner of Good Food, Good Things, Beth Dupont has brought in Lisa Tatosian, an event planner who has worked a lot with flowers, to head a new floral department.

Beth Dupont, owner and founder of Good Food, Good Things, is adding a floral and garden department expected to be up and running in time for a Christmas-themed open house Thursday.

Lisa Tatosian of North Stamford, who for the past three years has run an event planning service, Petal & Leaf Floral Events, will head up the floral department.

Tatosian provides both flowers and table decorations (along with tablecloths and whatever else could be put on a table) as well as full planning, including arranging for caterers for events -- including holiday events like Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas parties.

"I was an event planner for years, and event planning led me to the floral part," Tatosian said. "What really makes me happy is the look on the client's face when they see how we transformed a room with flowers and decor."

You can meet Tatosian at Thursday's Good Food, Good Things open house, "Carol's Cookies and Christmas Confections." Dupont said she's inviting the community to "come have a sip of champagne and celebrate Christmas and the community."

Dupont said Tatosian would bring skills to the store that would make it more valuable for customers: "People have asked me to be an event planner. I just know I'm not good at that, so Lisa is going to bring that in."

The store has been a place to get "not just something that you could buy," Dupont said, but a provider of "things that we think the customers are going to enjoy -- a style maker. [...] We try to bring a unique sense of style to everything we bring into the store."

Dupont founded Good Food, Good Things in 2003, and the back of the store is run by Diane Browne, owner of Diane Browne Catering. Last June, Browne told Darien Patch that her business and Dupont's were parting ways, with Dupont's store moving elsewhere.

After the article was published, plans were revised, and Dupont's business is still at the same location at 865 Post Rd.

As Dupont put it, as of now, "Good Things is alive and well and blooming at its Post Road location."
