1. Darien YMCA team wins title
The Darien YMCA eighth-grade basketball team won the AA bracket in the Fairfield County Basketball League's season-ending playoffs with a 60-51 win over New Castle of Westchester County, N.Y., at Weston High School.
Tim Graham scored 16 points to lead Darien, which finished the season with a 16-6 record while Drew Rollap tallied six of his 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Darien reached the final with a 81-71 victory over Trumbull Gardens of Bridgeport and a 61-55 win over Norwalk's Carver Center in the semifinals.
Coached by former Fairfield star Kevin George, who is an assistant at Norwalk, the Darien YMCA squad also won the title last year with a 21-1 record.

2. Darien swimmers qualify for the Class L championship
Darien's Jack Bair finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.11) and 500-yard freestyle (4:45.98) in qualifying for the Class L swimming championships that take place Wednesday at Wesleyan University.
Darien's Tyler Gould finished first in the 100-yard freestyle (47.67) and second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.03) while Chris Jansen was second in the 200-yard IM (2:02.34) and Jack Baker third in the 500 freestyle (4:50.14).
