Darien's Ostberg Excels at New Balance Nationals

Darien High School freshman runner Alex Ostberg competed in the freshman one mile race at the prestigious 2012 New Balance Nationals.
Ostberg ran a personal record of 4:44.67 at the Indoor Track and Field Championships held March 9-11 in New York. Ostberg is the first freshman ever coached by DHS head coach Tyson Kaczmarek in his nine-year tenure to quality for the New Balance Nationals freshman mile event.
The Blue Wave runner placed 34th out of a field of 48 runners in the race and easily broke his previous personal record of 4:51 in the mile. Ostberg also became Connecticut’s No. 1-ranked freshman male runner in the 2012 indoor mile rankings.
