Valentine's Day Yoga

Introducing yoga to someone you care about is a special gift the both of you are certain to enjoy, and with Valentine's Day just around the corner, the gift is extra sweet.

It is somehow already February, and pink and red hearts are beginning to pop up everywhere, artfully arranged in window displays and check out lines all across town.

With such reminders, it's impossible to forget that Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and perhaps you find yourself searching for a unique and personal way to celebrate the occasion with someone you care about—whether it be your spouse, significant other, friend, or family member.

As a yoga fanatic, I can confidently suggest bringing your loved one to a yoga class. At Venture Yoga, we have an offer to make that recommendation just a little bit sweeter: All day on Valentine's Day (Feb. 14), come to any class along with your loved one, and he or she can practice for free! Practicing yoga with a companion, for all kinds of reasons, enhances both your relationship and your personal experience.

The most practical reason for this is that the two of you can motivate each other to keep the commitment to go to a class. With the weather being so unpleasantly frigid, it's sometimes difficult to get out the front door, but if you have set plans to meet up and take a class together, getting out the door becomes a bigger priority. After working hard in class, perhaps the two of you can go grab dinner somewhere, or catch up over a glass of wine. Sounds like fun to me!

But on a more intimate level, making the commitment to practice yoga with a friend deepens your connection with each other, as you share the experience of doing something uplifting together. Yoga, as with life, is intended to challenge you, and to encourage you to stretch yourself in order to accommodate those challenges.

If you bring a friend along, you have an automatic support system beside you as you navigate through your practice. You also have someone to perhaps make a funny face at under your armpit when you're in a downward facing dog! The benefits are multifold.

Whether on the yoga mat or elsewhere in our great big world, our relationships are enhanced by having fun and sharing personal experiences, whether those be positive or negative ones. Introducing a loved one to your yoga practice is such a special gift, and for Valentine's Day at Venture Yoga, we offer you an extra incentive to do s—because we love you!
