An Action-Packed Outing at Boat Camp 2011

Over 125 campers set sail from the Noroton Yacht Club Friday.

A little cloud cover couldn't deter the 125-plus campers that set sail from Friday as part of Boat Camp 2011.

With the help 's marine unit, campers from the Camp Roscco School Vacation Program and Quisqueya Summer Camp took a tour of the waters off of Darien and Norwalk on 25 craft volunteered for the event.

Among the day's activities: a stop at Sheffield Island, a dousing from the NFD's fire boat, a bit of good-natured pirating, and — of course — popsicles on the shore.

Boat Camp, now in its 15th year, is organized by Noroton Yacht Club, , and the Darien Sail and Power Squadron and was made possible with help from the , the Norwalk Seaport Association for Sheffield Island, the Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Coast Guard Station Eatons Neck, SoundWaters, and the .
