Slideshow: Hitting the Ice for a Noble Cause

Members of the Darien Winter Club faced off Saturday in an effort to raise money for Person-to-Person's Emergency Assistance Program.

On Saturday, members of the Darien Winter Club faced off at the Darien Ice Rink for the fifth annual Charity Skate. Each player made a donation for the event, the proceeds of which will go toward supporting the work of Person-to-Person's Emergency Assistance Program. Ice time was also contributed by the rink.

The club, founded in 1953, consists of men 30 and up, many of whom used to play at the high school or college level. Members compete in a commuter league and meet up for biweekly scrimmages.
